Rogue Brewery is known for going their own way. They use more grain in their beer than most other craft breweries. And you can taste that in Santa’s Private Reserve. Santa’s Private Reserve is a variation of Saint Rogue Red but with more hops. The aroma is breadish with a hint of pine. The body is has a strong malty flavor with some caramel. The finish slightly hoppy dry. Santa’s Private has a medium body which could have been more bold. A Christmas Beer need more boldness to mach the rich flavors on the Christmas table. But it’s still a good Christmas beer that I wouldn’t mind having on Christmas Day.
