This porter have mouth filling pleasant roasted flavors with a slight dryness in the finish. The flavors are a little more sudden than I’m used to in a porter but not at all intimidating. The 6% ABV ads to the rich body. They use chocolate and crystal malts with Cascade and Magnum hops. The beer have a balanced 40 IBU bitterness. This beer is named after the Brewers Blackbird (Euphagus Cyanocephalus) that is common around the Santa Barbara area. The name have nothing to do with beer though. The bird is named after Thomas Mayo Brewer and American natural historian. A portion of the proceeds benefit Land Trust for Santa Barbara.
