I’m using Rate Beer for my beer ratings. I find that Rate Beer have a more global reach than other rating sites. I also like that you don’t have to write an essay for each rating. On many other ratings sites that I have looked at you need to write 75 word or more for each rating. When I look at those ratings I find them very forced, to much “word pooping”.
I also rate according to what I think of the beer. I have for example given Pliny the Elder a lower score than average. When I rated that beer I was tired of over hopped IPA’s that lack balance. I would have given it a higher score if (when?) I become a certified beer judge and judging the beer according to a style sheet. Pliny the Elder is a good West Coast IPA but right now I don’t like that style of beer.
